Marc and Alex Marquez have revealed the 2020 Repsol Honda livery in a special presentation held in Jakarta, Indonesia.
As expected, the livery remains virtually the same as last year, with the front of the bike featuring a little more red. Repsol have been the title sponsor of the factory HRC team since 1995, and over the last few seasons the bike’s appearance has remained the same.
Marc Marquez will lead the team once again after clinching his sixth premier class title in seven years last season. His record-breaking campaign helped Repsol Honda clinch the Triple Crown for the third successive year.
Speaking at the presentation, he said: “I am happy to come to Indonesia again, the atmosphere here he is like nothing else and it is great to be able to launch our 2020 efforts. We approach this year the same as the last and all others before it, with our full focus and ready to work with the Repsol Honda Team to achieve the best we can.
“Together with HRC and Repsol we have achieved incredible things and continuing this success is a big source of motivation for me, and now I’m eager to start another season and compete again on the RC213V.”
Like the majority of the field, Marc Marquez’s contract expires at the end of the season. However, it is highly unlikely that he’ll leave Honda in the next two years.
The reigning champion heads into pre-season testing at less than 100% after undergoing shoulder surgery. In an interview last week, he said that he expects to be at between 60-70% at this weekend’s Sepang test.
Alex Marquez joins his brother in MotoGP after clinching the Moto2 title last season. The move was made possible following Jorge Lorenzo’s retirement.
“It is a privilege to be part of the family that is the Repsol Honda Team,” Alex Marquez said. “Already I have had the special feeling of stepping in the garage for the first time, working with my team for the first time and now meeting the world at the launch – I truly feel a part of the Repsol Honda Team.
“I know that there is much to learn and achieve in 2020 but I am devoted to giving my best, I’ll try to improve and learn every day and hope we can do a great season step by step.”
The Spaniard took part in the first two days of the shakedown test at Sepang and will be aiming to become Rookie of the Year this season.
