The College of Weber received its name from a fur trapper and trader who called Salt Lake City his home in the 1800’s. After its conglomerate in 1889, the school increased to new heights both in education and in athletics. The Varsity now holds a respectable 21,000 scholars and scores of highly talented athletic groups. Between hockey, rodeo, basketball and a superb Wildcat mascot, Weber State School is enticing scores of scholars and fans everywhere. Who can’t help loving a college that prides itself in a wonderful education and top of the line sports programs?

Dribbling to success, the Weber State men’s basketball team has received several awards and acclimation for their hard work. The team and their Wildcat mascot even made it on the list of the best basketball programs in university history. Don’t think the women’s basketball team can’t keep up because they are establishing to measure up to that Weber name. The team has competed in the championship games for 3 years in a row now.

The splendidly and easy to use design of Weber State College’s internet site provides its visitors a way to learn about the College . Told on the website is a story of the faculty’s own wildcat mascot Waldo. Waldo is no ordinary mascot. The story of Waldo is reasonably an amusing read. Wally Morris was a Weber State Soccer team. Thanks in part to a team player insulting him, and another player sticking up for him, he got the name Wildcat Morris. Deriving from Wally’s nickname and a title threw on the bunch from a local reports article, the Wildcat name stuck like glue. Though the President of the faculty was strongly against the name, the scholars and fans won in the end.

A live wildcat mascot was shown off at all the school gatherings till one of the scholars was snapped at by the trusting looking creature. Waldo finally took over the job as mascot and does a brilliant job at entertaining everybody on game day. Although Waldo fits the outline of Wildcat, he is not like the shrewd felines found throughout the Utah mountainside. Waldo the Wildcat mascot is a lovable guy who can win over the heart of any kid. Together with the support of his school, fans, and scholars, Waldo the wildcat mascot will be around indefinitely.
